A Forest Between Us by Allie Winters
5.0

I’ve read this author’s books in the SmartyPants Romance Universe books and really enjoyed them. So when she reached out to see if I’d like to try this one, I was definitely interested. While I couldn’t fit it in when it was released, I was able to get to it a couple weeks later. And it was a really good read! I liked both characters a lot.

The fact that Harper thought her marriage in Vegas wasn’t real was hilarious. Actually it happened to Penny in my favorite tv show, The Big Bang Theory, which made me crack up right away. Owen was such a sweet guy, that I did get a bit frustrated when she was so adamant about not giving him a chance to see if there was actually something there. I was glad that so many things conspired to make her have to stay and spend time with him.

Based on her own family, it was so nice to see what Owen’s family was like and how they instantly took to her. The small town was fun, loved the librarian too. I think she’s going to be getting her own story as part of this series from what I read at the end of the book. In fact, I’m very excited that this will be a series and we will get stories for all the siblings in Owen’s family. Because I really liked all of them. Even his absent brother got a phone call in and will be hopefully coming home in future stories.

The steamy moments were perfect, especially that one out on the front porch. Kinda makes me want to find my own perfect guy who lives out in the woods like that, lol. My only issues with the story have to do with her constant not giving him a chance, at least outwardly, I was pleased that inwardly she was seeing the possibility. And then I also wonder if I missed something about why Owen lived so remote and away from everyone. I get that he was a major introvert, but I feel like I needed some more specific reason as a lot of people kept mentioning it.

A great story, great start I hope to a new series that I can’t wait to read more of!
