Epically Earnest
by Molly Horan
The first part of this book worked for me when it came to updating The Importance of Being Earnest. It just didn't follow the original story enough for me to really call it a retelling. Wilde's original story is high comedy and satirical, and this YA version updated it well with LGBTQ characters and Janey's backstory, but that was about it. It mainly felt unfinished. Like it was half of a story, rather than a completed idea. Cute enough, and short, just lacking detail for me.
