Love Points to You
by Alice Lin
This was a nice YA contemporary story about Lynda, a driven artist, struggling with a new family dynamic (father remarried and she now has a new step-mother and step-sister who seems to be getting more support than herself) but finding joy in being asked to create art for an otome game that's being created by who she thought was an arrogant classmate but turns out to be very cute and very loveable...
The family-aspect of the story was the most interesting, but I felt like we could have gotten even more step-sister bonding to make it more emotional.
I loved reading about two Asian ace girls (including a biromantic demisexual LI <3), falling in love: yay!!! It's not majorly important to the story, there's no deep discussion about it, but the rep felt so nice. They were cute together although once again, I feel like the romance could have been even cuter than it was.
Altogether, good ideas, good execution, just not quite great enough to be memorable unfortunately...
