» PLOT «
Kyle and Kimberly have been in a relationship for 6 years, but following their high school graduation, Kimberly breaks up with him. Before he has any time to register this, a car accident occurs and the next think he knows, Kimberly is dead and life isn't the same anymore. Stuck with a brain injury and with no one that can relate to him, Kyle then meets Marley. As they both grappled through their grief, they form an instant connection. But just as Kyle thinks his life is about to be patched up, his life comes crashing down again, and this time, he might not be able to fix it.
I don't properly read synopses, so I didn't see it coming. I really should've though. The part where it turns out, the year with Marley was all a dream. I was wondering why it was so fast paced, but then it was reveled that it was only 8 weeks and in a dream. I liked this part, since the relationship with Marley seem really fast and insta-love like.
This was both faced paced, in that time passes quickly, but also slow paced, in that not much really happens.
The end was really good, and I wouldn't have minded if Marley hadreunited with her sister and died , but this was a good alternative.
» READABILITY «
I read this via an audiobook, so it was pretty easy to get through.
» CHARACTERS «
Honestly, I really didn't like the the characters that much. If this book had much more loveable characters, this would've easily gotten a 5 star rating, regardless of the writing.
I really didn't like Kyle's friend. He blamed Kyle for a lot of things, like the fact that his and Kimberly's relationship wasn't perfect, but they kept getting back together. Despite the fact that a relationship takes two people, AND/i<> the fact that HE was the one who convinced them to get back together all seven times.
» WRITING «
This book was fairly fast paced, especially with that plot line. However, the fast paced nature of it make it feel choppy and not as smooth. It really pulled me out of the story.
» OVERALL «
How is this near perfect if the characters and writing only got 3 stars? This book had the potential of being really good, romantic, fluffy, and it had a lot going for it, but it dropped the ball.
