I enjoyed A Pinch of Magic, but I did not like it as much as I expected to. I think I expected it to be more whimsical and magical like a Diana Wynn Jones or Sophie Anderson book and this was not that. It felt like it took almost half of the book to really get going and just didn't pull me in. And it didn't help that I didn't really like Betty. I would have much preferred to get the story from one of the other sisters. I'll give it 2.5 stars. Not bad but not great for me and I'm not sure that I care to read the sequel.
