Started reading this last year but never quite got through it until now. Glad I finally finished it though WHEW!!! I must say Elaine really dropped a lot of wisdom for young women with this one. I definitely recommend you give this a read if you’re looking for some career driven inspiration.

More Than Enough is a nonfiction, part-manifesto, part-memoir about a biracial woman Elaine Welteroth excelling through her career in media and fashion. She takes us on a journey through her life from childhood to adulthood.

Showing her vulnerability as she expounds upon her own experiences with racism, self-identity, breaking generational barriers, family matters (her father being an alcoholic), toxic relationships, and speaking on her overall success. Sharing with us in depth the steps she took to succeed both personally and professionally.

Like many of us Elaine also stumbled along the way but she wasn’t afraid to admit her shortcomings and elaborate on how she was able to get past them. If you’ve read her memoir I think we can all agree she too is a walking example of what we call “BLACK GIRL MAGIC.”

Prior to this book I had no clue who Elaine Welteroth was. There had been mixed reviews about it but I wanted to determine it’s authenticity for myself. I can honestly say the beginning didn’t quite draw me in so this was a slow read for me. But overall I enjoyed 3/4 of it. Nonetheless her story was very inspirational and partially relatable in various aspects. I think we’ve all had our fair share of a toxic boyfriend or two.

I truly felt Elaine was showing us what it means to never give up on your dreams and to never give up on yourself. No matter what anyone tells you or how many times you’re told you can’t do something. Whether you have a seat at the table or someone in your corner pushing you to succeed. Always believe in yourself and know that you have nothing to prove to anyone.

You’re just as worthy and more than capable of being the person/woman you desire to be. All it takes is a little effort, confidence, and commitment on your end. Understand that not everything in life will come easy and we’re all destined to fail at some point. (Just being realistic here.) But what matters the most is how you get back up and finish. Kudos to Elaine her book gave exactly what it was supposed to give.
