Alexandra Bracken knows how to write a novella. She's always been one of my favourite authors for them.

I had previously read In Time and Sparks Rise. (I've reviewed both and Sparks Rise is one of my fave short stories ever!) So I just skimmed them and moved along to the main event: Beyond the Night

I was really happy to have more from this world and this series as it has a special place in my heart. Reading about the crew again brought tears to my eyes. The relationships and the friendships, all of it was just beautiful. What really hit me with this story was that the world still has a lot of fixing up to do. Into the Afterlight ends pretty happily and this really shows you the cold hard truth. The government is horrible to it's wards and post traumatic stress is rocking the kids from these camps. I absolutely loved it.
