Becoming Jinn
by Lori Goldstein
This book is excellent. It's about genies, which is a new one, and it's well written. I enjoyed the story and I love the main character. She's self aware and she's intelligent. She doesn't jump to conclusions or question herself the way most YA FMCs do. She thinks about things rationally and realizes things at pretty much the same speed as the reader. Everything that I thought would be another predictable annoying YA trait turned out to be slightly less than predictable, and actually very cool in the context of the story being told. Of course it ends on a cliffhanger, so now I'm desperate for the sequel, but I suppose I can wait a while.
