Excuse Me While I Ugly Cry
by Joya Goffney
I love a YA romance, especially when the author can seamlessly weave in deeper issues that are not only relevant to young people, but adults too. I really enjoyed Quinn as a character and seeing her grow, learn from her mistakes & accept her Blackness. The romance between Quinn & Carter was adorable. The banter and chemistry was so prevalent from the beginning and it was heartwarming seeing them open up to each other & have meaningful conversations.
The star of the book for me was Oliva. She was an incredible friend to Quinn, especially given their past. And the Bring it on Scene, so funny!
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good YA romance.
