S.M. Gaither remains the author that made me love blonde Romantasy MMCs, so I was very excited when she announced a new series with a blonde MMC and a shadow mommy FMC. I immediately loved Aleksander, and he is down BAD for Nova. The enemies portion of enemies to lovers is definitely heavier on her side, bc he is immediately like “yeah she hates me but I fucking LOVE it”. 

The world is very unique as well. I don’t want to get too deep into it because it could be spoilery, but the underworld isn’t as hellish as it may seem. The way Aleks and Nova’s magic works together is fascinating. I truly couldn’t decide if it was a good or bad thing that they brought life to a dead place, and it was a wild ride as they trekked across “hell”. 

This book is first in a trilogy, and it ends on a pretty intense cliffhanger so be forewarned. I truly don’t know what to expect next and can’t wait for more!
