Hogfather
by Terry Pratchett
I have no idea why it took me this long to read a solo Terry Pratchett book. Before I had only read Good Omens and now I definitely understand it when people say you can tell who is writing when in that book.
The wit, cleverness, and insight in Hogfather is something I haven't really come across before. I love how it can go from being so silly to so smart very quickly.
As someone who likes to see different personifications of death, I can see why this one has become a favorite. I love those versions of Death that see humans as some sort of an enigma, that kind of tries to adapt to some of their habits in order to better understand them. Of course, Death is still Death after all. His understanding can only go so far at some points. It's really an adorable curiosity.
Also, since this is the first Discworld book I've read, I was very glad that I was able to understand everything. I know I'm going to go back and start from the beginning at some point, but I kind of wanted to read this one specifically around the holiday.
