The Flash Vol. 4: Running Scared (Rebirth)
by Joshua Williamson
This is by far the strongest volume since volume 1 (Which I enjoyed a lot). Why? Simple. The return of Reverse Flash!
Barry is doubting himself. Who wouldn't? After the events of The Button I don't blame him one little bit. So he's trying to decide if he should tell Iris his secret. That he is indeed The Flash himself. With Wallace West still not on friendly terms with Barry, and the Reverse Flash beginning his plans to take revenge on The Flash, things are going to go down fast. A brutal beatdown, a future hunt, and some new powers, this chapter of The Flash has it all.
Good: Really dug the art here. I know not everyone likes this sketchy art but for some reason I just love it, especially the lightning effects. I think the story of Reverse Flash is both funny and miserable, because he's a scary villain, but his background always been funny because he's just a weirdo stalker who can't get what he wants. I kind of love it. I also enjoyed the stakes here and a certain brutal beatdown is both scary and sad.
Bad: I thought the very ending with the new power is kind of weird and out of left field. I'm assuming it'll be a big part of the next arc but still weird. Also, Barry complains a little too much.
Overall, this is a really fun chapter. It has issues but I read it in one sitting and had a blast. A 4 out of 5.
