The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making
by Catherynne M. Valente
3.5/5 stars.
This book was unlike any children's book I have ever read before. The writing style is very whimsical and fairytale-like, which I really enjoyed. For some reason, I really had to take my time understanding this one. Some books are meant to be read out loud and this is one of them.
The side characters in this book were phenomenal. Every concept was wonderful. I kind of want to give this book to someone who analyses children's books because I feel like this book has academic meaning. I can't even explain how wonderful these side characters are. I wish there was a book just about them. They were the most interesting part of the book.
I'm going to read the next book in the series because I own it but I'm not quite sure if I"m going to continue with the series after that. We'll just have to wait and see :)
