I was really excited for Cricket and Lance's story after reading Whistleblower because they seemed like such intense characters with sad histories and hilarious banter. They didn't disappoint in that sense as I loved how their backstories were explained and friendship. I do however wish that there were more of a buildup of them going from friends to lovers versus just jumping in because it wasn't even explained in Whistleblower and there weren't that many scenes of them together (most were them doing their own thing on their own missions).
