The Taken Ones
by Ruhi Choudhary
Mad Mac is back in an adrenalin fuelled, action packed and gripping story that kept me reading till late in the night.
There's a sense of urgency in this story, you feel that time is essential because the killer is going to strike again. This is a fight against time but also an investigation that involves powerful people, the type of people that aren't usually investigated.
Mackenzie is changing, she's as blunt as usual but she's also trying to develop her social skill and to get a life out of her works. I found her sweet, you can see her wounds behind the mask and how she's coming to term with her past.
The cast of characters is well developed and fleshed out as usual, I couldn't help picturing the setting as a series of images in black and white with some red spots.
It was a riveting and highly entertaining read, emotionally charged and well written. Storytelling was super.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks Bookouture and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
