A Million to One is the Titanic heist story I didn't know I needed. The story centers on Josefa who has been stealing and running cons for a few years. We also read from the perspective of three other young women who she recruits for the heist of a lifetime, to steal a jewel encrusted ancient book that will be traveling on the Titanic and is truly invaluable. These characters are Emilie, Violet, and Hinnah. They each have well developed back stories and lovely character development. 

You might think a book set on the Titanic can't surprise you. You might be wrong. This book gripped me, especially as the hours counted down to the sinking. There is some slow burn queer romance, a lot of found family, and so much heist adventure fun. And the author really did their research, this book is historically accurate where it counts and her decisions around changes for the story are well explained in the author's note. 

If you're looking for a fun, fast historical read with an air of tension, this is it.
