A brief story in verse (the author’s note at the end explains it is aKorean style of poetry called shijo) about a teacher asking a class what they would save in a fire, knowing that all of their family is out and safe. This could certainly be used for a class meeting or a great start to a writing prompt. The conversations and ways the student narrator shifted their mind throughout was interesting and realistic.
