Every once in a long while a book will come along that is refreshing in its idea and its delivery. This is one of those books.
I have for a long time spoken of John Greens book with a hint of wistfulness as I said, "well it was quite decent, but I just expect... better from him." I love John and Hank Green's works. From Vlogbrothers to the Awesome Socks Club I have found them both delightful, inspiring, and quintessential to being a person who explores the internet. This book is everything that I felt John was capable of and that I hoped for when I learned he was a published author.
Reviewing things is not unique. Talking about life is not new. But the idea of reviewing facets of the human experience and the world we inhabit... it comes out to be a refreshing idea with a stunning delivery. John Green reading his own work on the audiobook version I found just made the experience even better.
I give the Anthropocene a 3 star on my best days. This book is by far a 5.
