Fireborne

2023 reread:
I moved through this a lot slower this time around because of the time of year I was reading it which is why I don’t want to lower my rating despite not loving it as much as I did the first time. I was way too easily distracted while reading it this time and I blame it on a million different things going on right now. I think if it would have been 2 months ago I would have flown through this and loved it just as much as I did the first time.

There has been so much hype around the release of this book, so when Penguin Teen offered me an advanced copy I knew I couldn’t turn them down!
And let me tell you it definitely lived up to the hype!
Annie and Lee were both orphaned around the time of the revolution. The only difference was why and how. Now, years later, they are both fighting for the position of Firstrider, leader of the air fleet in this post revolution world.
This book has everything you could hope for .... in one word: dragons!
Lee and Annie are dragon riders and are fighting for the chance to lead the air fleet of dragons. Thrown into an orphanage as children they became friends, easing the pain of losing their families. Now they are competing against each other for the same glory, both the best in the fleet.
But the world of peace can’t last when there were survivors from the old days. And those survivors are no longer content with their exile. They’re ready to take back what is theirs.
So you basically get dragons and people riding dragons and a war that is going to be on dragons in the next book I’m hoping.... how awesome!!
This book definitely lived up to all the hype! It was fast paced and entertaining, with intrigue and secrets and dragon battles! I really can’t wait for the next book!
