If this book ended just over halfway through I would've given it 4 stars. I do not want to make any assumptions about the author but I have not seen it explicitly stated that this is written by a queer person which doesn't bother me unless the queer couple is written harmfully.

Starting off with things I liked:
- I have always found boarding school interesting and I was interested in the little traditions the students had and all that fun stuff
- Biracial love interest! Cool! (if i remember correctly he is half japanese half white)
- I gotta admit, I thought that the premise of Charlie and Luke's romance was cute (if a bit predictable and cliche.) Their banter was enjoyable and I'm a sucker for yearning (one scene pre-relationship where they're on the phone made me rlly happy)
- There's probably more things that I thought were okay but that's everything that jumped out. Again, had this ended when Luke and Charlie gotten together, it could have been a 4 star read

Things I didn't like:
- To be honest I did not care for Sage and her relationship with Nick at all. I found myself scrolling (I read this on my phone as an ebook and hammered it out in less than a day) through her chapters just to get through it. Most of her story felt like the same thing over and over again- "I wish I could be with Nick" "I miss Nick" "I don't like Charlie like that" etc. I'm not doing this justice. I guess the only thing I recall actually liking from her chapters was when she was with Luke or Charlie because I absolutely love friendship dynamics
- Overdone "gay boy dates different girls every week until he finds the right guy" trope. Also, the way Charlie treated his ex girlfriends when things were over was...not good. (I would not like to invalidate any queer people who have his experience, though. I just find that it was not done tastefully or originally)
- I read a few reviews after I finished this and people said that they are sick of seeing gay people hating themselves while discovering who they are (especially written by a seemingly straight woman.) I saw one review that said something along the lines of this being an overtly "ally" written book. I don't know if this makes sense but Read the top 1 star review I think and It'll make sense.
- I could've possibly given this book 3 stars with everything I didn't like had my last point not been present. STOP FORCING CHARACTERS TO COME OUT WHEN THEY ARE NOT READY!!! I guess now I should give a spoiler warning so (SPOILERS.) If someone pressured me into coming out before I was not ready I would simply break up with them
I chose this book because I saw the first review was 4 stars and the next was 1 star and without reading either reviews I wanted to form my own opinion and I am obviously on the side of the 1 star more. Idk how to end reviews. Oh also I'm a lesbian so I'm saying all of this from my own perspective and experience.
