I'd wanted to read this book since I heard the author speak with Sarah and Nippy on the Little Bit Culty podcast. Montell's book explores the one thing that makes all cults and culty things the same: language and how it is used and abused by the leaders/groups. The book is formatted in different sections focusing on different areas: the language concept intro, deadly cults, religious cults, work out cults, online/influencer cults. It was fascinating and definitely is a must read if you are interested in the "why people get sucked into these things" question. I also want to read Montell's first book now, about feminism and language.
