Cora is a little girl who likes things just a certain way. It’s her way or the highway. While this is a common saying, why is a little girl saying it? Does she even know what it means? Then various people like teachers and even her mother tell her she has to be “Flexible”. She thinks this is being bendy in different directions which is illustrated perfectly in the book. Later the lesson is that flexibility is learning that you don’t always get your way, and that being flexible means doing things you may not want to do, to get along or obey others. This is not a book I would ever use with kids because I think the message is a bit wonky, not exact, and a tad confusing. But i see parents and teachers liking it.
