I read the first book of this series years ago; 2011 to be exact. I thought that I really enjoyed the book. However, in the first couple of chapters, I thought to myself "why am I reading this?" I forgot why I originally enjoyed the book. Somehow I forgot that the series addresses some of the many messed up systems that prevent humans from caring for the earth and natural beauty. This book points out the flaws in our societal systems: such as western beauty standards, death of the environment, the groups we put ourselves in, elitism, privileged people choosing to remain privilege because it's easier, people struggling to stay WOKE, love, sacrifice, and systems (including people) who are dedicated to keeping us divided.

Needless to say, I am ready for the next book!
