This was a perfectly insane mix of gothic horror, who did it mystery, dark academia aesthetic, and gorgeous prose. The author really has outdone herself once again when it comes to these tropes. I love seeing these terrifying vibes written in such a lush and divine way. It almost makes you crave it. There’s a beauty to books like this that you don’t realize until you dive in. One of my favorite things when it comes to horror like this, is slipping sanity. The unreliable. It can be so realistic it hurts. Mix that in with local lore and a creepy manor, I’m sold. You should most definitely give this one a try!
