Amy is an unlikable heroine: she cheated on her husband with her now-dead best friend, she goes to Paris without telling him, she has no friends because she is so self-involved, and she (spoiler not really a spoiler you know what kind of book this is) breaks up with her husband because he very reasonably gets mad that she went to Paris without telling him. Despite this, the story itself is well-written and funny and even, at times, realistic.
