2 or 3 stars. The parts I enjoyed were really good and entertaining. The parts I didn't, namely Lord Henry, sucked ass. I admit that this was well written for its purpose. But some of the characters are so unlikeable its hard to continue. I do like the idea of this being a novel about the negative aspects of Society in its day. Its like look, you guys do this shit all the time but here my character took it too far. But what is too far really? I also, like the premise of living for your senses and indulging yourself but not at the expense of others.

Unlike some I haven't come across any quotes or references to this story so I was a bit surprised. I am disappointed it doesn't really specify how the link with the painting happened nor what Dorian was doing that was so bad. Though maybe like Lord Henry, influence and mental manipulation via words was his true evil.

Side note: I read cliff notes whenever I reached Lord Henry's monologues after chapter 5. Wish I had done this from the beginning because most of his ridiculous and disgusting bullshit is in those first five chapters.
