Wink by Rob Harrell was a fun and heartfelt story about many challenging topics: cancer, friendships, step-parents, social media bullying, and finding the strength to be yourself. The way Ross deals with things that come his way feels very real. The issues he faces make your heart break, but feel encouraged that things will turn out okay because the support system behind Ross is strong. Rob Harrell weaves in witty sarcasm and humor that matches well with a middle schooler. This book is a great one to help young kids understand that not everyone is dealing with the same things and that, not everyone's boulder is the same size or weight.
