Carnage, Vol. 1: In the Court of Crimson
by Francesco Manna, Edgar Salazar, Ty Templeton, Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Ram V
Very surprised by this one! There's a serial killer on the loose and an obsessed detective (because of course there is), the twist is that Carnage is looking for a new host and has infected both of them to see who has what it takes to become his new partner in crime.
It's fun to see the Carnage symbiote torturing the serial killer who's clearly in over his head and the odd-couple dynamic of Cletus and the detective is great too. The back-up stories at the end of the volume were great short stories and give a good look at how Carnage and Cletus behave differently when they're separated. It's not terribly deep, but everyone feels in character and sometimes it's just fun to see bad people be bad people.
