It makes me happy that books like this exist. I know we are worlds away from something like this being part of a school curriculum, but I hope we get there. Both for the kids questioning their gender identity, and to expose and normalize the experience for cis kids.

However, it did strike me as odd that Uncle Roderick didn't present this discussion when we was alive. He had been gathering materials for several years, it seemed, and he was sick and knew he was dying. He had the time to bring it up, or to at least plant the seed with mom, so that she could potentially discuss it with Bug, when she felt the time was right.

As an adult who dislikes scary, this is also the perfect level of ghost story for me
