Hope and Other Punch Lines

I can't remember if i picked this one up because someone else suggested it or I just loved the cover - but once again I had no idea what I was getting into. The first few sentences drew me in and started a journey I never expected. 9/11 has been a major part of my "adult" life. My freshmen year of college was 2011, the first part of my life where I would have been "alone" and considered adulting. I never expected the entire world to change and it really has. I have thought of those affected personally by the tragedy, so this story was intense to actually delve into the lives of people who lived through that day - and also those important to them who did not. I really enjoyed the characters, they were quirky, real and honest. I thought the story was a bit slower, but still engaging. It felt like a personal connection to the real story during the time that has transpired since 2011. I was blown away by the 9/11 sicknesses, I must have been under a rock. That blew me away. I was heartbroken. It also made me really, really think about how much an image can change a person's life, without the photographer seeing past that perfect shot.
