This is a long read. I've breezed through 700+ page books in a matter of days, but Leavy's writing is dense, and it takes a while to sift through it. That's a good thing for a biography, though, because it means that the author took the time to immerse themselves in the subject. I don't know how Leavy was able to amass the knowledge and anecdotes she did, but the book lives up to the title "The Definitive Mantle Biography" that it tried to deny. Mantle didn't know this much about his own life.
