I'm still in shock with the ending of An Absolutely Remarkable Thing. Reading Hank Green's debut novel was something that I just HAD to do because I honestly feel like I owe Green so much for helping me get through my high school and college science courses with Crash Course on Youtube. Also, after mainly reading historical fiction in 2018, ending the year with a sci-fi book was something I truly needed to do and I'm glad that I chose An Absolutely Remarkable Thing.

True honesty: I would've given this five stars if the beginning had been a little bit more attention grabbing, but boy, the the last 200 pages truly got me hooked! Main character April May is truly a character that I could see myself being friends with. As someone who likes the mystery of oddly placed things in society and puzzles, I feel like I would have either gotten equally obsessed with the Carl phenomenon, or I would have at least like to be there with her on her quest with Andy, Robin, Maya, and Miranda.

The book everything reviews on the back cover said it would be: Fast-paced, witty, and funny with cultural intelligence. It shows how quick social media posts can travel around the world and how obsessed people can become with all of the different forms of social media all the while grabbing readers into the sci-fi 'Dreamer' world of Carl.

If you are looking for a fast-paced and witty sci-fi novel, or just want to see if Hank Green actually can write better than his brother (HE CAN), I recommend picking up An Absolutely Remarkable Thing ASAP because it truly is remarkable.
