The Day of the Duchess by Sarah MacLean
2.0

I mean there wouldn't have been any problems if the hero and heroine had just like... talked to each other when they first met. Malcolm reminded me a lot of Westmoreland from Whitney, My Love because he just refused to have an open and honest dialogue with his wife (although Malcolm wasn't quite as gross as Westmoreland). This book just had some really weird tone problems. It bounced from funny and charming scenes with Sera's sisters and the suitesses
(I want a book about the girl who's never eaten soup tbh)
to these intense emotional scenes between an estranged husband and wife. Yet, the emotion completely lacked any punch for me, since all I could think was how we wouldn't have had any of these problems if 3 years before the books events, these two had just talked with each other.
