This is probably one of my favorite story collections from Ito. I think most of these are retellings of urban myths, which leaves them with a bit more finality than some his other shorts.
1. The Woman Next Door 5/5, this was simultaneously scary as shit and hilarious, and I like that the woman didn't actually seem to be evil, just having fun terrorizing her neighbors when they got to be too nosy.
2. Sound of Grass 5/5, I will not forget the image of the grass falling anytime soon and honestly I wish I could.
3. Graveman 5/5, this somehow manages to be something I have feared my entire life and never realized I did.
4. The Seashore 5/5, great art, creepy girls, creepy ocean, creepy photos, and a mystery left at the end.
5. Just the Two of Us 5/5, very predictable but stylistically wonderful with food racing and characters.
6. The Scarlet Circle 5/5, I don't know why but I found this story to be so interesting and spooky. I've been thinking about it for days and I can't quite put my finger on it but it definitely sits with me.
