I loved how this novel tackled such serious topics in a way that easy for children to understand and want to read. Being written through the eyes of a child stripped back all the politics and reminded us of what the real issue is.

The friendship group were all well developed and I loved what each one brought to the group, especially when they bought Ahemt gifts, it really made me chuckle to read what they picked. I thought not naming the main character was a brilliant way to keep attention focused on Ahemt.
