More than 4 stars. I wasn’t super into this in the beginning. It felt very YA and a lot of common YA tropes were used. Also, one of those like game of thrones where everyone dies so it’s not particularly surprising when it happens … but as the story went along I enjoyed the combat challenges, political bits, and romance. I saw serval things coming, but there were also some surprises. I will say as a 30 something I have no patience for men who tell women what to do. I really wanted dual POV… and I wish some of the magical bits would have been better explained as far as the magic system and rules go. I liked the ending and am excited to see where the next book goes.
