Forgive Me, Leonard Peacock by Matthew Quick
2.0

I had high hopes for this but it really fell short. The first thing I didn't like were the footnotes, it was damn annoying to keep flicking back and forth (I read this on my Kindle but I think footnotes at the back of a book are annoying in print too), I didn't like when the letters started because they made no sense at first and jarred with the book I'd read up until then. The characters lacked depth (apart from Herr, who I liked) and so did their relationships - especially Lauren.
I had to keep reading just to see how it ended...it was quite sad but because the characters were just so meh it didn't really make me feel sad.
