I unknowingly read the second book in this series back in May as part of the Romancing Summer Reading Challenge I did because it fit one of the prompts. I always meant to go back and read the first one but I didn't like the audio narrator and then forgot. I found this one available and it sounded vaguely connected but not as directly as some series, so I went for it and it was so good!! Adrian, Josh's cousin who briefly made an appearance in book two, is a lawyer and owns the building he lives in. One night he hears a baby crying hysterically next door in the middle of the night and his girlfriend makes him go check to see they're okay. He meets baby Grace and her aunt Vanessa, a travel YouTuber who is now home to take care of her. Adrian's girlfriend is soon out of the picture and he, his new foster dog, and the two ladies next door become a weird sort of family unit but even though there are sparks between the two adults, nothing can happen since Vanessa has s 50/50 chance of having ALS and dying young like her mother and sister. I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately went to find the first one in the series.
