Girls of Strom and Shadow is the sequel to Girls of Paper and Fire, following Lei and Wren in the aftermath of the first book. They are sent on a new quest, going out trying to gain alliances to take down the court of the Demon King once and for all.

The more I think about this book, the more I like it. Even though the book has a “journey plot” that I usually am not the biggest fan of, it is done really well. The world and characters are explored and deepened, making us care and really fall into this very intriguing world Natasha has created. There are so many parts that makes this story, the relationship between Wren and Lei, deeply explored and deeply flawed, but so beautiful and real. The horrible things (trigger warning: sexual assault) that they went through the first book are not forgotten, nor ignored. The plot does stagger a bit because of the journey plot, but it gives a lot of vital pieces for the last book in the trilogy. The twists in this really got me, when Lei realizes certain things and it hurts her… it hurt me deeply as well, that is how much I started to care for her. I talk more about the details and what I enjoyed in this in my video review! 4-4.5/5 stars.
