Well this was as enjoyable as I expected. I listened to the audio book which padded an extra layer of character. While I've had similar experiences there were of course, differences. I think the biggest thing I outright disagreed with was the PDA section. It also felt random. The biggest difference, to me, was the constant looking for boys from so young. Nothing wrong with it. I've just never seen it so blatantly talked about with no reason beyond want. Like looking back at your childhood and just all out stating you were doing things for a boyfriend just because. Its so foreign to me and I figure I know why. But I always wondered about those who were opposite. This may seem a less important difference than say not being an immigrant or from immigrant parents. But while I'm not its not as foreign a concept to me. Lastly, the sections seemed randomly put together and several overlapped timeline wise. I don't mind the overlap so much it was just highlighted when she jumped topics randomly each chapter. But i t may seem that way because it was an audio book. I'll need to look up the table of contents. Anyway, this is my intro to Issa Rae, finally. And it was a good one.
