oofers. a short story collection. not really my cup of tea but i decided to give it a shot.

so, I’ll be talking briefly about each imagine and what i though about them + my rating for the imagine!

1. Siege Etiquette:
i personally didn’t like this one. and i wonder why they thought it would be a good idea to put this one at the beginning of the book. it was just...bad?

first of all the girl in this story makes no sense to me. she’s popular and mean but she used to be nice and something about her family and blah blah blah. i understand that maybe they were trying to make a fleshed our character but it’s really hard to do that when you’re writing a short story.

second, the guy just confused me. if you’re only going to come to school half of the year, why come at all? also, he works on a farm? how did he get to the party? what party is this for? how were the cops informed of this party? so many questions are left unanswered.

also, at the end when they kiss, it’s totally forced. they hardly know each other. and, wtf, after it the girl is all like ‘i can’t be with you’.

why?

2. Print Shop

ooh ok so we’re getting to the good stuff! i loved this one! it was really adorable and i loved how it was like all backstory and we barely get to see the romance. i feel like it gives you a chance to think and come up for yourself how the two girls got together. i loved the idea of the cute print shop and how old fashioned they wanted to be.

3. Hourglass

and right when we get something good, they hit us with the worst short story in this whole book. yes, the worst.

i HATED this one. it was so boring. first of all, the main character is just a pity party. i don’t even feel anything for her. she’s so rude and she gets mad at Stacy (her best friend) for almost no reason. i really didn’t like this story.

4. Click

this story was pretty cute! i enjoyed the backstory and how we got to see why our main character was so invested in her studies and the app she was making. i found it very touching that the love interest went all that way to help our main character find her USB drive that meant oh-so-much to her.

it was also a pleasant twist when the two found out that they weren’t clicked in the end and that fate brought them together! i found it really cute.

5. The Intern

bleh. this one was just...it just went straight over my head. i feel like our main character was too ambitious and too clingy. or that she got attached to people too easily.

the rockstar guy was just plain weird. he sounded a little bit of a creep to me. also, why would he leave in the middle of his concert? it makes no sense.

6. Somewhere That’s Green

OMG I LOVED THIS

the transgender rep, the lesbian rep, the acceptance rep, the fight. i. loved. it. so. much.

nia was such an empowering and beautiful trans female main character. i love how she never let anyone tear her down and how she fought for her rights. i loved the kiss at the end and how the two girls ended up together. it was wonderful :)

7. The Way We Love Here

another one that just kinda flew over my head. i wasn’t a big fan of the premise. i know that the sort of soulmate au is popular right now, but i just got confused. it was showing us so many alternate universes that none of them really made sense?

8. Oomph

ahhh another one that I really loved. again with the lesbian rep. i thought it was wonderful! the two girls seemed to have the same playful personality and i found that it was really cute how they met at the airport! i could definitely relate with the overprotective parents, and i just really loved the concept.

9. The Dictionary of You and Me

yet ANOTHER favorite of mine from this short story collection!

ok, so obviously im a bibliophile and i just fell in love with this concept of a girl working in a library, finding love through books. it made me oddly happy, and i kinda wish this could happen to me.

the love story was so genuine and cute that i found myself smiling though most of this.

10. The Unlikely Likelihood of Falling in Love

wow, three of my favorites in a row? can you believe that?

yes, yet another favorite. this one was just genuinely well written and thought out. i really loved that it felt like we were reading this girl’s actually report for her class. plus, it was extremely adorable how the guy wore blue so that she would recognize him :,)

11. 259 Million Miles

a really wholesome story of two people sort of falling in love after spending 24 hours together. it was a really ??realistic?? story in my opinion.

the one thing that just didn’t fly right with me was how the heck would people humiliate the main character for that? he literally just threw up after getting rejected. yeah, embarrassing, but not embarrassing enough to make people make fun of you wherever you go. i personally just don’t think that’s realistic.

also, he TOTALLY should’ve gone to Mars with the girl. i hate how they made her go but made him stay.

12. Something Real

an ok/interesting concept. ive actually never seen a dating show in my life, so i don’t know how accurate this actually is to real life dating shows. but anyway, it was just a really predictable story. i knew that the celebrity would end up being a total ass and that the girls would end up together.

also, throughout my whole time reading this story, i couldn’t stop seeing Will from Dumplin as the main character. it was haunting me.

13. Say Everything

this story intrigued me the most because the first sentence immediately made me think of my crush. (the first sentence is: ‘To you, he’s THAT boy’) so yes, i was intrigued.

and no, i wasn’t let down, but it wasn’t exactly what i wanted. it was just like a whatever story. i didn’t really find myself that invested in the story.

it was cute, fluffy, and a short quick read.

14. The Department of Dead Love

and ok story by Nicola Yoon. i wasn’t surprised or disappointed with it. i was just kinda like ‘meh’.

the concept is cool, but i feel like it wasn’t explored enough. it was just a bit disappointing:(

i do think that this could be a whole short story collection on it’s own, where we get a short story from each department.
