The Man I Never Met
by Elle Cook
Hannah, a 26 year old Londoner, receives a call from Davey, who lives in America and accidentally dials the wrong number for a UK job interview. Davey gets the job and texts her to let her know, and from there their friendship blossoms. When Hannah goes to meet Davey at the airport, he isn’t there—and the reason why changes both of their lives and sets them on different paths of self discovery.
I was looking for a fun lighthearted romance to read since I’ve been reading some heavier subject matters lately, and without giving spoilers the reason why Davey didn’t show up definitely took all of the lightheartedness out of what was up until that part a very cute story. Nonetheless I still enjoyed the book and seeing how both of their characters progressed. I did get annoyed with Hannah a lot as she’s very much a pushover and I wanted to shake her several times, but by the end of the book I felt like her character grew.
