Home Before Dark

For most of the book I wasn't really into the story or characters. I was there to find out the ending.
I feel in the minority here but I actually like the ending more than the rest of the book when usually Sager's works pull the opposite way for other readers and me.
I think the reason I didn't enjoy it as much is the way it was divided in sections with her dad's book and her own story of finding the truth. From the beginning we're told the story is bullshit even from the town and her mom so when all the ghost stuff was happening it was the obvious answer that it was fake or that there was another explanation because it was said to and I just wanted to get to that so we could stop with the "house of horrors" and find the real truth.
I mean we were following the main character who wanted that but was bogged down by book too and I get that. It just made it less of a gripping experience. I kept wanting to pick this up every chance I got but when I did and I was reading it...I was meh. Until the end.
