I like this book. It's one of those "lesson" books that every library should have in their collection. Plus, when reading, it feels like you know dad as lived though this. It's not just some popular author who decides they need to do a book on a parent in a wheel chair. It is very simple in the way that the best picture books are, but at the same time helps lead to an explanation of what can be a complex problem. The illustrations are not bad, just not my favorite style.

What I would love to see happen is for this book to get picked up by a big children's publisher. Maybe not one of the big 6, but someone who can really knock a kids book out of the park like Capstone. I'm not saying redo the graphics, but lay out, paper choice. Make it glossy and slick with a dust jacket, or a perma-jacket. As it is now, it resembles a self published book. There is nothing wrong with that. Many people get their start with self publishing. The reason why I want this is that in a shelf full of glossy, high design picture books, this one may not grab children. And sitting on a tight children's shelf, it will be easy to over look. As it is now, I fell that it will be a book that libraries hand to parents when asked for advice, but not one kids may pick on their own. This copy given to me by the author through a contest, is going to a library and added to their children's collection. So hopefully I am proven wrong.
