Kiki is a journalist longing to get back the career she once had butts heads with Elise, the detective covering the death of a woman found in the woods in Ebbing. The two end up helping each other and help uncover a serial rapist., while at the same time trying to understand how the current murder might be related to the death of a child 16 years earlier. This book brings to the forefront the dangers of internet dating, the vitriol put forth in online forums where groups of men bash the women they have dated, how a tragedy changes people so they no longer really know who they are, and how easy it is to get away with murder.
