Curse of a Banshee
by Sophie Duncan
Sophie Duncan’s writing is beautifully done. It’s vivid and captivating. I could feel the beauty, mystery, and magic with her words. B, an interesting name for a character, is one of the fae. She is a banshee, which I found unique because I’ve never read a story about a banshee character. The grief she feels, the power, the urge to wail...it was all so fascinating to read. To protect others from her dangerous power, she has to use a special device to cover her mouth and help her to project her thoughts to other, a detail that was very well thought.
There are more characters than just banshees in this tale, including a gnome, pixie, ghost, a gargoyle, and so much more. Another interesting tidbit is that most of B’s dialogue is done in thoughts.
When B isn’t searching for clues to her father’s kidnapping, she owns her own cleaning business. Oh, but not your typical cleaning business, though. B and her crew clean up supernatural scenes. At a scene polluted with strong magic, B and her team run into the same gang that took her father so long ago. The suspense and action that takes place had me on the edge of my seat.
If you like fast-paced stories, and supernatural creatures, you’ll enjoy this one. I did!
