I LOVED THIS. Witches & witch hunters in a game of wits while also maybe falling in love. This book really hooked me from chapter 1, and I did not feel that 50-100 page slump that comes at the beginning of a lot of fantasy books. This book explores, love, friendship, power, betrayal, & sacrifice. The magic system was cool, I loved that it was linked to blood and that because of Rune's morals, her magic use had to be conserved and used intentionally. I loved the world building and how it really helped us see the change in power and understand both sides of the conflict.  My only negative, was I wish Rune was a little more badass. I wanted more female rage. BUT and THE END?! WOW. I have never read Kristen Ciccarelli before, but she went there. She was not afraid to twist and turn and surprise us. I am super excited for the next book!
