The Stonekeeper by Kazu Kibuishi
3.5

This was a beautifully illustrated graphic novel and honestly gains half a star for the artwork. Unfortunately the story felt just okay to me. It was by no means bad, I mostly enjoyed it and there were some tense and emotional moments. I could see the potential in the worldbuilding and characters - they just didn't draw me in the way I wanted. I particularly wanted more atmosphere considering the creepy situations which the children were in.

Overall I would definitely recommend the book to its target audience, children, but I'm unsure whether to recommend it to other adults who enjoy middle grade. I'm also hesitating over whether or not to read the sequel.
