All the Bright Places
by Jennifer Niven
I'm so angry at Finch!
Edit: Ok, so that was my initial reaction but after thinking it over for a couple of days I'm not really angry at him. I completely understand why he did it and props to the author for writing something that unfortunately didn't have a happy ending but was completely true to life, because suicide happens.
All throughout the book I didn't like Finch much but I did like Violet and Finch as a couple. I was really pleased that they got together properly and maybe naively thought that was it, that they had saved each other in different ways and all was good. I didn't see the end coming and I was devastated for Violet.
But like I said, I am glad that it happened and that it wasn't a brushed over, fairytale happy ending because talking about suicide and acknowledging it openly is so important.
I also loved that there was an author's note and a help section at the end.
