Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear
by Lindsay Mattick
I thought it was interesting that two different books on the origin of Winnie-the-Pooh came out around the same time. They are both similar, but at the same time, very different. Finding Winnie is written by the great granddaughter of Harry Colebourn. Harry was an vet in the military during WWI and Winnie became their mascot. The book tells a familiar story, but what makes it unique is its perspective: Lindsay telling her son Cole about her grandfather's bear. The end includes pictures of Lindsay and Cole, as well as journal entries of her grandfather and pictures of Harry and Winnie together. A wonderful story and still worth the read, even if you read the other book.
